Most of us have heard the saying, “Actions speak louder than words.” When someone who is not trustworthy offers a promise, we will often respond: “I’ll believe it when I see it.” In James 2:14-19, James addresses this concept as it relates to genuine faith. It is easy for a person to say, “I believe in God.” In fact, the apostle Paul often warns about false teachers in his writings. Today, we still encounter such people. Some may have malicious motives, seeking to undermine the faith. Others may simply have a head knowledge of God, but never actually accepted Christ as their Savior. Jesus even says in Matthew 7:21, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” It is vital to note that we are not saved by what we do, but by what we believe. At the same time, if we have a genuine faith, it cannot be hidden - it will shine through our lives and through our actions. Today, evaluate how you are living. Are you demonstrating a sincere faith in Jesus Christ?
