In this opening study, Pastor Alan examines the prophecies concerning the Lord Jesus Christ given by Zechariah well over five hundred years before the birth of our Saviour.
This Old Testament Prophet foresaw many of the incidents in our Lord's earthly ministry which are recorded in the Gospel accounts of the New Testament Scriptures. These include Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday riding on a donkey as well as His denial and betrayal by Judas.
Pastor Alan also reveals that Zechariah foresaw Jesus as the Lamb of God, the Rock of Israel, the Branch, and Builder of the Sanctuary, the Body of Christ - the New Testament Church of God. Jesus' Second Advent and His ultimate universal dominion as Lord of Lords and King of Kings are also foretold in these Scriptures.
The New Testament Scriptures confirm the accuracy of Zechariah's prophecies and, as Pastor Alan contends, this proof makes Zechariah a more compelling and credible witness with regard to the other aspects of his prophetic ministry, which will be considered in the final two parts of this three part series.
