Where's the Beef (73B)
Speaker: Tony Evans
Date: 7/1/2006
References: John 10:7-10
Introduction:
  • Illustration: Lady in Wendy's commercial asks, “Where's the beef?"
We want to know where the beef is, too.
  • Illustration: Boy peppers father with questions about the meaning of life.
  • Illustration: Wife finds out the marriage alone won't satisfy her deepest desires.
  • If we don't know what life is really all about, Satan will offer us imitation life.
Without the life of Christ, we are dead.
  • We cannot give ourselves life.
  • The root of the problem is the sin of Adam.
  • Illustration: Sam the forester disobeys and gets kicked out of his mansion.
God often has a hard time getting our attention.
  • We are sheep, and sheep are ignorant.
  • Like sheep, we follow whatever looks the best.
  • Illustration: Sheep return to their folds through only one entrance guarded by the shepherd.
  • Other voices who entice us away from Jesus are thieves and robbers.
The meaning of abundant life.
  • You will be saved.
  • You will be safe.
  • You will be satisfied.
Conclusion:
  • The beef is in Jesus, the substance of life.
